Last week was reserved for soul searching. I also won a lovely prize, and I’m keeping you up to date about my latest discoveries. All in this week’s Weekly Wellness!
So, what’s up?
As you might have noticed I didn’t post any articles last week. That was because I felt I need to shift my focus to get a refreshed look on my work and personal life. I don’t want to say you can figure out everything you’d like in the span of a couple of days, but I can recommend anyone to take some time to do a bit of soul searching now and then!
I won a 3-month subscription to Storytel from Naoki.nl, my favorite Dutch cruelty-free beauty blog. It’s the Dutch equivalent of Audible, and allows you to listen to various audio books. I already stacked my virtual bookshelf with titles like “The happiness project“, “Grit: The power of passion and perseverance” and various shorter titles to boost my general knowledge about music and literature. I can’t wait to get started!
Remember when I mentioned I put together a to-watch list with movies starring Brad Pitt? I recently watched Fury, about an American tank crew in nazi Germany during WWII. This movie is realistically gruesome as you’d expect, but also emotional and sensitive. Other heart-felt performances were by Shia LaBeouf (Nymphomaniac I and II), Jon Bernthal (the Walking Dead) and Logan Lerman (The Perks of being a Wallflower).
Although chicken-gate seemed to be over after “the chicken who lived” finally died, we endured another couple of poultry-related setbacks. After picking up our second chick we soon found out she was ill, so we took her back to the breeder. Unfortunately her sickness turned out to be highly contagious, infecting the rest of our coop in the progress. We finally ended up with a 2-chick configuration which seems happy and healthy, but they are receiving antibiotics to fend off the latest – and hopefully last – setback*.
* You’d think after two months of chicken-trouble I’d plan to get rid off them all together, but nothing could be less true: I love tending to our new pets and seeing them scramble around the yard!
